The web video problem
Personal Project, May 2013
Is there something fundamentally wrong with the way we're presenting video on the web? In this visual web native short essay, I wonder if online video needs to change to be more open like the rest of the internet. In the two years since publishing this originally, my view has changed a little bit; I wonder now if being a "blackhole" on the web is actually a strength. Either way, the article sparked off a healthy debate in the comments. This was a new technical challenge for me. I built the whole essay from scratch in HTML5 and CSS. It was published when 'parallax interactives' were all the rage; thankfully this superficial trend has been and gone.
